One of my most recent projects was collaborating with up and coming film director Ben Charles Edwards on a short film titled ‘ways of seeing’. the film was made for Hendricks gin, a Scottish gin company famous for it’s distinct branding and events.
the film centres around Ordinary Joe, our stories narrator, who sits alone in the dark, staring at his own reflection in a blank television screen. In his own eyes he sees the flicker of images thrown back at him as he begins a journey through his own subconscious, illuminated a series of surreal and strange scenes that subtly build a fragmented narrative.
My role in this project was to create a series of artwork which was to be used as background imagery for various scenes. for this to happen some of the film was shot in front of a green screen while other scenes were shot on location with imagery added in post production.
the development of this project involved a great team of people including set designers, hair and makeup artists, costume designers and actors. the photography was done by Sergio Delgado who has previously worked on Pans labyrinth and a number of other commercials and music videos.
The short film is scheduled to be shown at a number of events worldwide hosted by Hendricks gin in the coming months. below are a few screen caps from the film!
David Hoyle as the ‘sorry clown
Carl Prekopp as the ‘Narrator/television head’
Gsus Lopez as the ‘Crow of the towers’
